Everything started on a day when I, with chubby, six-year-old hands, grabbed a red crayon and wrote my name on a paper. After a couple of minutes, the paper became a picture full of drawings. And I didn't even realize. Perhaps, I didn't write any other word that day. Back then, the images were enough and I wasn't understanding the sense of words. But everything starts with a dense fog surrounding it. I was just a child.
But one day, after a couple of years, I held the pencil in my hand again. And I started writing. One, two, three phrases, until the page was full of big letters and fat words. I admired my masterpiece for a few seconds. Then I grabbed a new notebook from the bookshelf and every day I added a short story or poem to it. The fog started to vanish, and I started discovering secrets, mysterious things. Reading Pollyanna, everything changed. I started truly to read; I started to enjoy reading. I started living, not just breathing, as she would say. Books became something beautiful and indispensable. Reading and writing, I grew. After a few years passed, I was sitting at the wood desk in front of the window with the view of the backyard. Another place, another town, other challenges. I wrote two pages, but after that the pencil fell out of my hand. It hurt too badly. It was too heavy. Not just the weight of the pencil, but the heaviness of putting down on a paper that many emotions and stories. When you see them laying in front of your eyes, the experiences take another shape. Not just the shape of the letters, but the shape of something real, something that you have to realize and reflect on. Something that is meant to be only for you, something that is yours. At least, that's what I thought back then. And years flew by. I still write. And I still read. And I write again, and I read again. Now I don't write only for me anymore. I write for others. I hold the pencil in my hand. And sometimes the only thing I want to write is my name and then leave. Sometimes I want to write pages of pointless stories and poems that are not really poems, with the big letters of a child. In some days, I want to give up and leave the pencil off my hand just because it's hard. And sometimes I do. I still don't write crime novels. I am not there yet. But with every day that goes away I discover something new, and grow. I learn. Because from the moment I started writing, I could never stop. And I won't stop, always giving others parts of me, like they give me parts of them. Usually, I like to say life is beautiful. But to be fair, life written in words is more beautiful than just life. |
Citind "Secretul mulțumirii", totul s-a schimbat. |
