When the sun is in the sky
We want drops of rain and wind. When it rains and it feels cold, We hunger for sunny days. The green Carpathian Mountains lay calm surrounding the area. The school is the same as I always knew it, just a fading sound of the few cars that are passing by it. There is the courtyard, the worn pavement and the silence of learning, the soccer field and the PE teacher watching bored the usual soccer game of every period, the girls trying to play basketball, and no one to show them how to do it. Another group of girls who don't even try. Why make the effort? Just talking, gossiping, and laughing. The smell of fresh air is all over the place, the smell of a small town.
Looking inside the aged old style building, I can see the library, with old, dusty books and a printer. As I remember it. The people interested in reading are already gone to find books in a better library. And I remember me. I did the same. But now I regret it. The old dusty books are more than valuable. They are gold. The rusty gold of the past generation, but the gold can be used at any time in this world. Students are squeezing to the printer. For them, it is more important than the books. I look beside the library. The office filled with notebooks of grades. My grades. And even my dad's grades. Numbers printed on white paper; the paper of decades; the paper that is supposed to show our intelligence and work. But the same paper that sometimes doesn't; the paper that always meant something to me, but now I know it is just a fine piece of wood that holds pieces of ink. My teachers' fingerprints. And there is old Katie working (maybe is her last year until she retires) with some papers and diplomas. A fly comes through the wide open window and stops on the transparent glass. And finally, I look into the classroom. My old classroom. There are students, listening to the explications of the same math teacher I had. She looks like a flower dying, but a flower that even then makes people happy. The smell of math makes me remember everything ... how I felt the disaster when I got a B for a test, the success when I was the only one in the class to get an A, the bad days when someone of my friends was sick, the good days when we all laughed just because of the fun of laughing. I remember the freedom we felt when we didn’t have any homework; the anxiety to find out whether we were going on a trip before the end of the year, or whether we were to stay; the failure of saying something wrong to a friend and the challenge to help them solve a hard problem. The air in the room is thick, thick as a gas that poisons me. Sometimes, I felt the same way when I was in here. Nobody bothers to make it breathable. Air wouldn't change it too much, anyway. The room is almost dark, no lights. The curtains are ripped from place to place, hanging over the low, dirty windows. I see the white grayish walls, greasy from the millions of fingers that went over them. The dust on some higher shelves makes me cough. Same desks, same black-boards and white chuck. No colors. White mixing with black. Gray. Brown. I realize. Nothing had changed. Everything just got older. It is like us. We are always the same people, but after a while, we get older and become rugged. This is how it works. The bell rings. The noise starts. Everything is worn and aged. Mi-e greu să înțeleg că lumea-i toată neagră,
Tu vei veni!” Playing around with words from newspapers :) Two neighborhoods lead world
Black weapons prospering Business manufacturing color Urban Games on Friday, 10 and women lips show pride Homeless people read Nation News in district Portland You say "Look great" My deep problems asked for bounty and we feel half delivered Câteodată mă gândesc cât de ciudat este să înveți o altă limbă. Greșeli peste greșeli. Cuvinte peste cuvinte.
Last year in Language Arts class, we visited an art museum. We were assigned to create a poem based on words and phrases we found in the Native American photography exposition. I took different lines and words that fascinated me and put them together to make this poem. So here it goes: From my little-rotted tree-house - where I used to play with my friends - I could see the Indian Reservation; Some mat houses and some washo baskets. I could see some dirty, worn moccasins and a couple of crow men singing. But I couldn't see that far as I wished to see; I couldn't see any catches on horses with cowboys and feathers I wondered whether it is because of distance or because of me Today, it's windy Faraway, someone chops wood; I want to visit my little tree-house I gently press the doorknob and sit beside the window. I look at the pigment prints into the shadow; I hear a knock on the door. An old woman I just came over, she said. Where are you coming from? I respond You young people always ask those kinds of questions (she says with a little laugh) I'm gonna tell you a story… There's silence. We are a studied people, with lot and lot of history We're seen more like a culture than like souls still alive And, you know, we have an autoimmune response and try to fit in but with every bad news keeping our past gets harder. There's silence. We're thinking that maybe it will pay better somewhere else. Sugar and a dancing earth that wants us And that doesn't have idealized conceptions. Her jeans are blue like the sky. She looks through the edges of the window and smiles. Sometimes it's hard… but not always, you know… We're complaining again of aching and breaking but It really doesn't matter where we're from But it matters where we're going She stands: Come. Let's make some coffee. I have a feeling of melancholy I wonder whether it is because of distance or because of me --Found Poem |
